Hilmar Petursson Topic: Dare to Be Different Summary: CCP, founded in 1997, has been dreaming of creating highly free games based on the core of intuitive activities. Compared with games with fixed plots, this type of game provides more meaningful and more sustainable game experience to the gamers. Seven years from then, EVE has become the monthly-paid massively multimedia game with the second largest population of paid users in the European and American markets. And the game has continued to win various awards in the industry. Building on EVE’s success, CCP has boosted its ambition and accelerated its pace in global expansion. The company has set up branches in Atlanta, US; Shanghai, China and Newcastle, UK, bringing a strong talent support and a new horizon to the company. The join-in of the top talents has enabled the company to develop two new massively multimedia products simultaneously, including the highly disruptive massively multiplayer online shooting game DUST 514. Come and listen to Hilmar Petursson’s “have the guts, have the success” story, and he will depict in his presentation the never-revealed grand picture for this small Iceland company CCP’s future.
