Symposium - anyone interested?
Lewis Denby wrote over 16 years ago
Okay. Okay. So I've tried to kick this off on about eight billion different occasions now, on various sites pertaining to this, but judging by the activity of you lot here I thought this might be the best place to do it. A while ago, Shawn Elliot posted the first two parts of a games journalists' symposium, in which a group of esteemed writers gathered around, um, an email program to natter about a variety of important topics pertaining to the videogame press, with a particular leaning towards reviews. It took the form of a closed email group, with Shawn asking a few starting questions for each topic and everyone else writing thorough answers, keeping track of what everyone else was saying and generally talking everything out. On reading the first two parts, I found myself fascinated by the topics and really itching to have my own say. So I wonder if we should steal all Shawn's questions and have a go ourselves. Who would be interested? Shawn Elliot's symposium is definitely a great resource if you are looking for getting some discussion started here. I wouldn't blindly copy Shawn's questions here, but I see no harm in getting some inspiration for interesting forum topics and polls. After looking at the second part of the symposium, I have created a poll that is based on the questions that were asked there. It would be great to see some feedback there and if others can start some new forum topics, I would certainly be interested. |
