The 'Hello Everyone' Topic
Hi everyone!

I'm quite new to games journalism and decided to give it a crack because of my obsession with games and my previous background. I've worked as a Producer for the past 12 years, but I was made redundant a week before Xmas from my job and I've been out of work since. I'm now devoting a lot of my time to writing and I'm hoping to get some paid work doing reviews and articles etc.

Cheers,
-Trevor.

Hello - just got to the site a minute ago, figured I'd best start here. Most any relevant info and/or links to my stuff is found in my profile, hopefully if you have a little time you'll have a quick look and offer any advice you can muster up (I need all I can get). Thanks kindly in advance.

Hi All,

A quick intro, I went travelling around the world in 1995 with the sole intention of working out wtf! I was going to do with my life. I returned to England in 1997 with the sole intention of getting a job in the Internet industry, I thought "the interweb" might just turn into something big!

I was lucky enough to get a sales/marketing role at UK based Gamesdomain.com in 1998 and have never looked back.

I set-up Witch Hazel Ltd in 2007 as a specialist business development & SEO agency for games. We expanded this year and have taken on more staff, so always looking for new clients. ;)

Our current clients include Urban Rivals - www.urban-rivals.com the world's # 1 online trading card game, and Runes of Magic www.runesofmagic.com which is probably (almost certainly) the best free to play MMORPG on the market.

Good to meet you all and I hope to be able to chip in on the odd conversation, especially regards SEO for games, which most games seem to think doesn't apply to them - we have other news for you, it's important and you're probably missing out on lots & lots of free traffic....

Hey,

Used to do some games journalism, then got laid off in a pretty lame sort of way.
Now I'm idly checking the site.
Looks fun.

Guess it's my turn.

I'm a newspaper man by trade. I graduated from Ball State University in Indiana in 2002. Ever since then, I've worked at daily newspapers, until I eventually landed where I am at now, the Newburgh Register. I've been the editor for one year.

I'm really interested in getting a career started in the video game industry and have spent the past couple of years volunteering to write for a couple of Web sites. The first was MyWiiNews.com, but I stopped after the site was sold.

Right now, I run a general gaming site (http://incomingpull.blogspot.com). I'm managing a small team of writers who contribute to the site. Aside from the editing and writing, I also program and host a live video game radio show at www.ultraworldradio.com.

That about gets you caught up for me, I guess.

Hello everyone. :) I would like to say thank you for a community dedicated to gaming and art. As I believe games are art. That is always disputed but in the end it all gets worked out with drawings, hard work and dedication. Everyone keep up the hard work and I look forward to hearing some critiques on my site and demo reel. Thank you:)

Hey guys, my name is Jon Lunceford, and I am currently head of content and media for vVv Gaming, a premier professional gaming organization in the USA. We currently feature many pro teams in different competitive titles on the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC. We are looking to form an eSports News Division as well, so this looks like a great place to be involved in as we do that.

I am currently 22, and majoring in Journalism/Media at Birmingham-Southern College. Can't wait to get more involved with this site!

Cheers everybody!

After a few stumbles in getting into the website - for some reason the confirmation email never arrived, but I'm glad I persevered :) - I'll introduce myself. I'm Pedro, I live in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and I've been working as a writer for a computer & video games website - FinalBoss - for approximately 5 years now. In fact, I've started as a freelance reviewer for some titles back in the GameCube generation - at least that's what I could play at home back then: GBA, GC and PC - and when the team needed an expansion, I was hired. Woo and yay. :D

From then on, it's all in a day's work for me - covering news, writing reviews (whether it's spectacular or forgettable, heheh), interviewing industry faces and so on. :)
