GAMESAID CHARITY NOMINATIONS OPEN

All GamesAid Members can nominate a charity for GamesAid support in 2013

London, 5th August 2013 – GamesAid, a UK games industry charity for children and young people, has opened nominations for members to put forward the charities they would like to see supported with funds raised during 2013.

Membership of GamesAid is open to all members of the games industry and all candidates can apply at http://www.gamesaid.org/join-us/. GamesAid will keep the nominations window open until 23.59 on Friday 16thof August. Only members can nominate a charity of their choice.

Stuart Dinsey, Chairman of GamesAid, said: “GamesAid has a record of supporting smaller UK based charities with a focus on children and young adults. Every year the GamesAid members will decide who their charity will support this year. Our due diligence process will shortlist suitable charities which can clearly demonstrate how and where the donated funds will be spent, ensuring the money that GamesAid grants generates the maximum benefit for their particular supported cause.”

Key Criteria for Members’ Nominations

·Nominations should be for small UK based charities, focussed on children and young adults

·An annual turnover of no more than £5m

·No more than 30% of turnover spent on administration costs

How to nominate:

The nomination process for 2013 couldn’t be simpler with a dedicated email having been set up for the purpose: gamesaidnominations2013@gamesaid.org. Nominators should suggest UK based charities dedicated to kids and young people, and remember to include a charity number in their email. Full details of the nomination process can be found on GamesAid’s website:NOMINATIONS.

Charity numbers and turnover figures can be found easily by searching www.charity-commission.gov.uk.

This is the first step in the process of allocating funds raised by the Industry in 2013. Once nominations close on Friday August 16th strict due diligence will take place. The final step involves industry Games Aid Members voting on the final choice of charities in September. Funds are allocated equally to the four chosen charities soon after voting closes.

In the meantime all fundraising donations are gratefully received at www.justgiving.com/gamesaid.
