The Games Tribe announces launch of games journalism training courses
The Games Tribe announces launch of games journalism training courses EA to sponsor as specialist video games media firm expands offering into training Bristol, 26 September, 2011 The Games Tribe, the specialist video games media company, today announces that it will be offering training courses on how to become a professional games journalist. Courses are sponsored by EA and the inaugural day-long course will be held at the publishers’ Guildford office in the UK. The course is being taught by a mix of games media veterans and teaching professionals and will guide students through what it takes to get paid for writing about video games, including workshops on how to write compelling news and reviews, conducting successful interviews and working with games industry PRs. Entitled ‘How to be a professional games journalist’, the first course will be held at EA’s Guildford office on 30 September. For more details and to buy tickets head to: http://thegamestribetraining.eventbrite.com The day will also feature a keynote address from Keith Stuart, freelance games journalist and games correspondent for The Guardian. Offering training courses will enable The Games Tribe to further deliver on its mission to champion the best in independent games journalism. The Games Tribe’s Rich Keith said: “The democratisation of games journalism brought about by the internet has undoubtedly been a force for good. But with so many people writing about games it’s meant there’s a real skills gap that, thanks to EA’s support, we can do something about. “With these training courses we hope to not only raise the general level of games writing but also give people a route to getting paid for their work – something that is all too rare these days.” ENDS About The Games Tribe The Games Tribe Ltd is a specialist video games media group set up by games media veteran Rich Keith, a former editor and publisher of PC Gamer, Official PlayStation Magazine and FirstPlay.
